TaskSA (Pty) Ltd ("TaskSA", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

When you register, book a service, list a service, or use TaskSA, we may collect:

• Your name, email address, and phone number
• Your physical address or service area (province, city, suburb)
• Profile photos and listing photos you upload
• Booking details, messages sent through the platform, and reviews
• Payment information processed through our payment provider (we do not store your card details)
• Device information and push notification tokens if you enable notifications
• If you register as a service provider, your identity verification documents — either a copy of your South African ID or passport plus a verification selfie (for individual providers), or your CIPC business registration number and certificate (for registered businesses)

Identity verification documents are treated as special personal information under POPIA and are handled with additional care: they are stored in a private, access-restricted location, are visible only to authorised TaskSA administrators for the sole purpose of verifying your identity or business registration, are never displayed publicly on the platform or shared with other users, and are never sold or shared with third parties except where required by law.

We use your personal information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Connect clients with service providers, shops, and accommodation hosts
• Process bookings, orders, and payments
• Send booking confirmations, updates, and notifications via email, push notification, or SMS
• Enable communication between clients and providers
• Improve our platform and respond to support queries
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Who We Share Your Information With

We share limited information as follows:

• Other users: when you book a service or message a provider, they see your name, contact details, and message content necessary to fulfil the booking
• Payment processors: PayFast processes card payments on our behalf; we do not have access to your full card details
• Service providers: we use SendGrid for email delivery, Twilio for SMS, and Cloudinary for image hosting
• We do not sell your personal information to third parties

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted password storage, secure HTTPS connections, and access controls to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Rights Under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
• Object to the processing of your personal information
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution requirements.

7. Cookies and Tracking

TaskSA uses local browser storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the TaskSA platform, operated by TaskSA (Pty) Ltd. By registering for or using TaskSA, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. What TaskSA Is

TaskSA is an online marketplace that connects clients with independent service providers, local shops, and holiday accommodation hosts across South Africa. TaskSA is a facilitator of these connections — we are not a party to the service agreement between a client and a provider, shop, or host, and we do not employ, supervise, or guarantee the work of any provider listed on the platform.

2. Account Registration

To use TaskSA, you must:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Be at least 18 years old
• Keep your login credentials confidential and notify us of any unauthorised use
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

3. Bookings and Orders

When a client books a service, orders from a shop, or reserves accommodation through TaskSA:

• A contract for that service, product, or stay is formed directly between the client and the provider, shop, or host
• TaskSA facilitates the booking and, where applicable, payment processing, but is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or delivery of the service, product, or accommodation
• Prices displayed are set by the provider, shop, or host, and may be quotes subject to final confirmation for certain services
• Cancellation terms may vary and should be discussed directly with the provider where not otherwise specified

4. Independent Contractor Status

Every provider, cleaner, tradesperson, shop owner, or host listed on TaskSA is an independent, self-employed individual or business, and not an employee, agent, worker, or representative of TaskSA (Pty) Ltd. By registering as a provider on TaskSA, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You operate your own independent business and are solely responsible for how, when, and where you perform your services
• TaskSA does not set your working hours, supervise your work, provide you with tools or equipment, or direct the manner in which you carry out any job
• You are free to accept or decline any booking request at your own discretion
• You are responsible for your own tax registration and obligations, including income tax, VAT (if applicable), and any provisional tax payments to SARS
• TaskSA does not withhold PAYE, contribute to UIF, or provide any employee benefits on your behalf, as no employment relationship exists between you and TaskSA
• You are responsible for your own public liability insurance, tools, transport, and any licences or certifications required to lawfully perform your work
• Nothing in these Terms, the TaskSA platform, or the conduct of TaskSA staff shall be construed as creating an employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture relationship between you and TaskSA (Pty) Ltd

If you are unsure of your tax or business registration obligations as an independent service provider in South Africa, we recommend consulting an accountant or the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

5. Payments & Commission

TaskSA supports the following payment methods:

• Cash: paid directly to the provider, shop, or host upon completion of service, collection of goods, or check-in
• Card: processed securely through our payment partner PayFast; a platform commission applies to card transactions as disclosed at checkout

TaskSA currently operates on a commission-based model — a percentage of each card payment is retained by TaskSA as a platform fee, with the remainder paid out to the provider, shop, or host. This commission rate is displayed to providers on registration and within their dashboard.

TaskSA reserves the right to change its fee structure — including commission rates, introducing subscription fees, or other pricing models — at any time, with reasonable notice provided to affected users via email or an in-app notification before changes take effect.

6. Provider, Shop, and Host Responsibilities

If you list a service, shop, or accommodation on TaskSA, you agree to:

• Provide accurate descriptions, pricing, and photos of your services or products
• Hold any licences, permits, insurance, or qualifications required by law to offer your service
• Respond to booking requests and client communication in a timely manner
• Deliver the service, product, or accommodation as described
• Comply with all applicable South African laws and regulations

7. Reviews

Only clients who have completed a booking with a provider may leave a review for that provider. Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experience. TaskSA reserves the right to remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive, or violate these Terms.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use TaskSA to:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings or reviews
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Circumvent TaskSA's payment system to avoid applicable commissions where card payment was intended
• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose

9. Limitation of Liability

TaskSA is provided on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, TaskSA (Pty) Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, or from the acts or omissions of any provider, shop, or host listed on TaskSA. TaskSA does not guarantee the availability, quality, safety, or legality of any listed service, product, or accommodation.

10. Account Suspension and Termination

TaskSA reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or poses a risk to other users, at our sole discretion and without prior notice where necessary.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of TaskSA after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
